Louisa was the sister of the 8th Duke of Devonshire and the great-niece of the 6th Duke.
As her great-uncle was a bachelor, she often served as hostess for him at Chatsworth. Her
portrait hangs at Holker Hall, the Cavendish home where she grew up.
