In the story... Spencer and Louisa have a thin connection to the Earl of Harewood, by marriage. On their northern progress with Diana, the three are making their way through lovely Wharfedale, travelling from Castle Howard to Bolton Abbey. Late in the afternoon, Louisa has their carriage driver turn in at the Harewood House gate, hopeful that the Earl will put them up for the night.
