The Birthright

John Adams lived until 1826 when America was fifty years old. There was much settlement after his lifetime. In the 1880s there was still some frontier. (It would be declared closed in 1890 by the superintendent of the U.S. Census.) Could Adams have looked in upon his country sixty years after his death, he might have still sensed the hand of providence.
